Questions

“I just want people to know that it’s okay to question your beliefs, and if what you believe is true, then it will still be true when you’re done with your questioning. And if what you believe is not true, then you’ve just learned something really valuable and beautiful about yourself.”

Patience

“The lesson that I’ve taken away is that it isn’t wrong to say, ‘the slow one wins the race.’” If you take it slower, chances are everything plays out the way it should, so I like to follow that rule as much as possible in my life.”

stability

I have two gorgeous little daughters, and I’m pretty much a single mom…I have a degree in technical theatre from the University of Montana, but I kind of wanted to get out of that and find a career that would be a little more stable for raising two young daughters…so I came to Helena College to get my nursing degree.

Continuing

“I recently found something that does actually help...it's surprising, but—hey—it works, so that's nice... Now, I'm trying to get a general transfer in science, so I can...go for web development. Basically, if anyone has a similar diagnosis as me—either Asperger's...or anxiety or OCD—just know if you go to college, you can do it."

KINDNESS

“The reason I want to tell you this story is to encourage you to be kind to one another, especially to your friends and your family and the strangers that you see.”

belonging

“I like quiet places more; I want to go where there is nature, and then I came here, and I was like—wow, I love it. I mean, I miss that feeling of being in India. I might miss those people, but after coming here, it didn’t feel like left out...I just feel something I belong to.”

CHAMPION

“I was the first female to ever win a National Golden Gloves bout in Montana… This accomplishment now seems so irrelevant…but to me, it made me a better person. Boxing only heightened many of my characteristics, such as mental strength, confidence, dedication, and hard work.”
